DESCRIPTION:
The Pistol Pete line had very low awareness
among the online audience due to the fact
that it did not have a dedicated web presence.
The challenge was to raise awareness for
the brand, while providing a funnel to the
online sales channel for the Originals line.
To educate online consumers, we created
a dynamic web site for adidas to promote
the “Pistol Pete” Maravich apparel
line, part of the adidas Originals collection.
The colorful and highly interactive site
blends a stylized 1970s visual look with
exciting interactive features to showcase
the line to online shoppers and fans of
street-style sports.
The web site promotes
the adidas Originals collection of clothing,
hats and shoes inspired by one of the NBA’s
Top 50 players. Outside of being known as
“Pistol Pete” because of the
technique he used to shoot the ball (out
of the hip), Maravich also is known as the
NBA’s first showman, thanks to his
incredible ball-handling skills and shooting.
We designed the site to provide an engaging
way to learn more about Maravich and the
clothing line through several innovative
features. An interactive scrapbook features
photo clips to showcase Pistol Pete’s
impact on the game and his incomparable
style of play. The site also offers a prominent
viral component. Users can upload their
own photos and send them to friends through
a viral “All Star Generator”
photo upload feature. This site shows how
dynamic, on-brand design combined with viral
elements, humor and style make for a powerful
web presence that drives attention and contributes
to sales.
