DESCRIPTION:
We want the target core to be entertained
by the website, to return multiple times
and find new things / sections. We want
the target core to be inspired to interact
with Mambo online, to have an on-going relationship
with Mambo online. The new site would also
allow Mambo to update the clothing/product
section with each new season and allow the
UK region (their biggest sector outside
of Oceania) to also have a presence online
with the current range. The site was to
also have a shelf life of three years which
for the fashion industry is a long time.
Creative Impact and Asthetics:
The idea behind the site concept and its
navigation was to create something that
would be a departure from the traditional
website while encouraging *intuitive exploration*.
We did this by building the navigation on
two levels.
On the first level we
kept it *intuitive* by including a quick
nav that calls the surf tour bus to take
you directly to your destination. This means
the top level sections are always visible
and easy to jump too. One of the main concerns
we received from non web savvy users when
developing the concept was they tend to
close down a site immediately if the navigation
is too abstract or complex.
On the second level you
can just pan around the four sides of the
block discovering sections as you go. As
you make your way around you\'re rewarded
with Mamboisms and Easter Eggs that aren\'t
presented through the quick nav, encouraging
the *exploration* process further. Therefore,
it works well because it appeals to left
brain and right brain thinkers.
JUDGES COMMENTS:
"This site
is 1 of a kind. The random nature
of the images and elements combine
to create a unique style and online
experience. The novelty of the look
and feel really make the user want
to dive in a be a part of the brand."
"The scrolling screen with the
use of illustrations and photographs
were amazing. Very punchy. The obscure
menu bar at the bottom was a refreshing
twist from the traditional menus that
you normally see. All the elements
within the imagery really made me
want to explore the site and see what
all I could find. I loved the spin
feature in the products screen! The
artist section was amazing as well.
Great site!!"
